Assessment of past and future land use/cover change over Tordzie watershed in Ghana

Land use/ land cover (LULC) change has been identified as the main driving force of global change. The study investigated LULC in Tordzie watershed Ghana and predicted future development. supervised classification procedure was applied to Landsat images 1987, 2003, 2017. cellular automata–Markov model embedded IDRISI 17 software employed for years 2030 2050. trend exploited from 1987 2003 2017, projected Settlement crop land, respectively, increased 2.68% 16.46% 3.65% 53.47% finally 20.61% 58.52% Vegetation declined 23.2% 13.9% 11.3% annual rate determined. In 2050, dominant use type will be (56%). However, it decreased between 2017 by −1.73%. findings are very relevant water resource planners, policy formulators implementers, environmental climate advocates. Sustainable its implementation recommended.
